One advantage of living so close to the lake is the ability to quickly run out with my camera when I notice unexpected photo opportunities. These moments come quickly and can't always be predicted. These photos were captured only a short few moments before sunset yesterday afternoon. Storms had blown through overnight and moved out over Lake Michigan. Sometimes the weather blows west, rather than over the lake, so this was a quick opportunity to capture stray clouds lit by the setting sun with the dark storm clouds in the background. The combination of weather pattern, timing and light created spectacular views best seen in person. But, I hope these images give you a good idea of the overall majesty of the moment.
