What started out as an intent to take a leisurely evening stroll through the Chicago Botanic Gardens at dusk turned into a feast for the senses. I visit the gardens often with my camera, but have never been there so late in the day. On this particular evening, the sun was low and the gardens were alive with the sounds of bugs and birds everywhere. These garden benches invited anyone to sit a spell and enjoy the setting sun.
I intentionally didn't bring a camera with me, wanting to enjoy the time in nature with full appreciation and not thinking about scouting for images. Of course, being on the lookout for images isn't something a photographer can turn on and off. Personally, I'm always aware of patterns, shapes, compositions and color arrangements in my surroundings. Luckily, I had my ever present iPhone in my pocket when I came upon these benches and could take some pictures. The serenity of this setting captivated me and I can feel it in remembrance through this image.
